Molly + Galen || Falkirk Cultural Center Wedding
I first met Molly and Galen at one of my favorite client meeting spots (Philz Coffee, duh). The connection was immediate. Not only do Molly and I share a perfect first name, but the three of us got along like we’d been friends for years. I watched their loving mannerisms as a couple and was a real life heart-eye-emoji. I listened with excitement about their wedding plans: unicorn pastel color palette at one of my favorite vintage venues in the Bay Area? YES PLEASE. I was eager for their wedding to capture their sweet love with their family and friends.
I woke up the morning of their wedding day and my heart fell to my stomach as I checked the weather: thunderstorms. Ooooooookaaaay let’s do this. I packed my big plastic covers for my camera, I packed multiple clear umbrellas. I wore a raincoat and boots. I was ready for anything.
I arrived and Molly was getting her makeup done. I made a comment about how the weather is looking unpredictable but I have photography plans under control. Molly was chill and was actually up for the challenging weather. “I bought umbrellas for all the bridesmaids. They match the color of their bouquets.” I was shocked. She was so ready for it, and knew that rain was good luck on a wedding day.
The overcast skies were perfect for capturing the vintage vibes within the Falkirk Cultural Center. The gorgeous bright and colorful bouquet by Momo’s Flowers and More stood up to the cloudy weather, as if to say “Not today, rain!”. Everyone was calm. Everything was going to be ok.
The downstairs section of the home was bustling with friends and family setting up for the reception, while these two prepared for their first look. I decided on a whim to have the first look in the quiet hallway, to keep the moment intimate and private. It worked perfectly.
These quiet moments by the window were some of my favorites of the day. Before the whirlwind of the wedding day truly began, I loved giving Molly and Galen this time to be together. Take some dang deep breaths, y’all. Trust me.
I loved how the bride squad and the groom squad all had coordinating pastel rainbow tones, and the bouquets also matched.
When your best friends are with you on your wedding day, I love to see those snuuuuugles.
The ceremony was popping with gorgeous bold florals, even though there was a light sprinkle from the clouds above. Nothing could dampen the spirits of these two as they finally said “I do”!
Y’all. Like magic, the sun burst through the clouds as they tied the knot and they were kissed by the warm rays. It was so incredible and I swear it was the power of their love that parted the clouds.
Their cocktail hour was bubbling with energy and love. They had a chill receiving line where guests had special moments with the bride and groom.
As these moments were being captured, Molly looks behind me and commented on “the big honeysuckle bush”. It became a perfect way to get these two to laugh as they held each other close, commenting on that big ole bush.
Ok so look at the photo above. Now look at the one below. They had an artist friend actually create fake romance novel covers for the centerpieces at the reception. We decided to recreate the cheesy pose, and it actually turned out pretty sexy.
THESE CUPCAKES FROM JAMES AND THE GIANT CUPCAKE WERE THE BEST CUPCAKES I’VE EVER HAD. Also they color coordinated for the pastel rainbow theme which makes them extra awesome.
Molly and Galen’s wedding was a totally kickass way to start my wedding season. I am so thankful to have been a part of their beautiful wedding, as well as get to know such a rad couple.
Here’s to chill vibes draped in pastel. Quiet moments in hallways. And big ole honeysuckle bushes.
